DVD RENTAL INFORMATION
What is internet DVD rental?
Online DVD rental is simply a way to order DVD's you want to watch which then get delivered by post. When you have finished watching them, you send them back and receive the next DVD's you order.
How does online DVD rental work?
Once you have signed up to a DVD rental service; have a browse around the catalogue and pick out the titles you want to rent. You build a list of the films you want to see and these will get sent out to your home – how many you can get will be decided by what package you subscribe to (see below.) When you have viewed the films, send them back in the Freepost envelopes provided and the next films on your list will be delivered.
How many DVD's can I rent a month?
How many DVD's you are allowed depends on what package you have chosen. Some will technically allow you to rent as many as you want (barring time constraints of viewing and delivery of DVD's) although there will generally be a limit on how many discs you can have out at any time. Some packages limit the amount of films you can receive in a month – check our comparison table to see the options available.
How long can I keep a DVD?
With most firms you can keep a DVD as long as your subscription lasts (you will of course only be able to have in your possession the number you are paying for at any one time.) So if there is a film you loved and want to watch again or you haven't had time to watch it you can hold on to it for longer. This is one of the features that makes Online DVD rental so popular these days – you don't have a set time such as a night or a weekend to view it.
How much does internet DVD rental cost?
Costs depend on what package you buy, and generally increase the more DVD's you choose to have out at one time in a month. IE if you watch a lot of films, you may opt for the ‘3 DVD'S out at a time' package which will cost a bit more than having just one DVD out at a time but gives you more viewing. Packages can start as low as £3.99 per month. See all DVD packages and prices here.
Can I try DVD online rental for free?
Most DVD rental companies will allow to test their service to see if it works for you. Generally you can expect around 2 weeks to a month for the trial, or some offer a certain number of discs. If you are not satisfied you can return the DVD's and cancel the subscription.
Should I choose pay-as-you-go or monthly?
Most DVD packages work on a monthly rate – IE you pay per month for your subscription until you cancel. There are companies which allow you to purchase a number of credits which are used up as and when you rent films. The pay-as-you-go package is more suitable for the erratic and less regular film viewer – or perhaps if you spend time out of the country.
Which online DVD rental company should I choose?
Decide how many films you are likely to watch, then look at the various prices and packages on offer. You may also want to see how many titles they stock. Have a look around the sites and see which one you prefer. Then sign up for a free trial and see if you are happy with that provider.
