What is internet Games rental?

Online games rental works in a very similar way to online DVD rental - you order games you want to play which then get delivered by post. When you have finished playing them, you send them back and receive the next games you order.

How does online games rental work?

Once you have signed up to a games rental service; have a browse around the catalogue (making sure you choose the right console) and pick out the titles you want to rent. You build a list of the games you want to play you and these will get sent out to your home – how many you can get will be decided by what package you subscribe to (see below.) When you have played the games, send them back in the Freepost envelopes provided and the next titles on your list will be delivered.

How many games can I rent a month?

How many games you are allowed depends on what package you have chosen. Some will technically allow you to rent as many as you want (barring time constraints of viewing and delivery of games) although there will generally be a limit on how many you can have out at any time. How long can I keep a game?

With most firms you can keep a game as long as your subscription lasts (you will of course only be able to have in your possession the number you are paying for at any one time.) So if there is a game you haven't completed or one you want to carry on playing with your friends; you can keep it for longer whilst still sending back and receiving other games.

How much does internet games rental cost?

Costs depend on what package you buy, and generally increase the more games you choose to have out at one time in a month. IE if you play a lot of games, you may opt for the ‘3 games out at a time' package which will cost a bit more than having just one game out at a time but gives you more viewing. Can I try games online rental for free?

Most games rental companies will allow to test their service to see if it works for you. Generally you can expect around 2 weeks to a month for the trial, or some offer a certain number of titles. If you are not satisfied you can return the games and cancel the subscription.

Which online games rental company should I choose?

Decide how many games you are likely to play, then look at the various prices and packages on offer. You may also want to see how many titles they stock and whether the cater for the console of your choice – most will have PS3, Wii and XBOX360, but firms also offer PS2, Gamecube, PSP, Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance and XBOX. Have a look around the sites and see which one you prefer. Then sign up for a free trial and see if you are happy with that provider.
