For thousands of people in the UK, living in a so-called “notspot” means they are unable to gain access to the things that others take for granted, such as iPlayer, Facebook, YouTube and other internet sites.  

A “notspot” is the new way to describe a rural area where broadband cannot be installed. 

Around 4,000 households in Britain live in one of these areas and around 2.5 million people can only receive 2.5 Mbps – or even less.

2.5 – that is a far cry from the 8 Mbps that is the norm for millions of regular broadband receivers.

You can take action, by teaming up with your fellow community members.  One village set up a fund and gathered £37,000 to pay for a special cable connection to telephone hub of the village.  Soon, the village was able to receive Mbps of up to 40!

Gone will be the days of missing out on all the goods and services that are a part of daily life for ‘regular’ households in the UK.

Alternatively you could consider mobile broadband, although this itself is often slow and unreliable if the household does not already have fixed broadband set up.
